Playing in a band is exciting – making music together and creating your band’s unique sound and identity. Your band can take three levels of Rock & Pop exams – Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced.
For each exam, your band will play a set. We specify one song, and then you choose the music that makes up the rest of your set, as long as it’s of the appropriate technical and musical level. If you’re songwriters you can play your own music. In group exams, there are no Session skills.
The exams are designed for a five-piece band of bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and vocals. However, any band of two or more players can enter an exam.
Your band will be assessed using the same areas as the solo Rock & Pop exams – Fluency & Musical Detail, Technical Control and Communication & Style.
You’ll find more information about songs, set duration and how to enter on the Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced pages.
